My biggest prayer for this blog is to inspire others to want to learn more about the AMAZING WORD of GOD the way I see it is, it is an instruction manual for our lives. Reading it, and understanding it is one of the most crucial as well as helpful things we can do to better our lives. So how do we make it real to us? how can it become more than just a book on the shelf? More than just an accessory that we flip through on Sunday. We do this by studying it of course, sounds very simple right.
And it is, but as someone who tried, and tried, for years to get it, and constantly feeling lost. I finally got some guidance and realized it really is not as complicated as it seems.
The problem was, I was just trying to “read” it…like it’s was some fairytale story I knew it was important so I truly desired to know what it said but it wasn’t working its fairytale magic on me…
The Bible is not meant to be handled that way my friends, because when we do that we overlook so much of the important stuff. Every word in the this book is Inspired by God.
All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
and we must not add to it or take away from it.
For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18
So since God gave us his word for instruction in righteousness, that should make wanting to study it all the more important, and if it is working in your life it will reprove you, correct you, challenge you and change you. Look at some of the beautiful things created by our loving father in Heaven. Now of all that he created he modeled us after His own image but he did not make us gods, because there can only be one, that is Him, and He also gave us free wills to figure things out, but not without instruction HIS WORD
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27
So this all leads me to this, over the last 11 years since I became a christian and was baptized into the body of Christ I have learned so much but I am still growing, through study and application of the Word (two very necessary components) I read to learn and understand the word, and many times I have come across words that stop me and make me think, sometimes I look them up, sometimes I will go back to the concordance and see where else the word is used or sometimes, I find that the theme or idea of that word is used in other settings in the Bible, and the more I learn the more it all connects. So I ask you to join me in these word prompts, the words are words that I will share weekly, words that make me stop and think more deeply about the word of God, they make me search the scriptures. Im going to do this weekly so that gives us plenty of time to study. If you would like to share the prompt the tag is #bibleprompt and if you would like to follow along, I will post my weekly word prompt thoughts on my blog.
I just learned how to follow tags so if you don’t know how to do that, you will find a picture below of the place you will find that and under the tags dropdown you will type bibleprompt with no spaces or capital letters,
and make sure you also tag bibleprompt in your post if you decide to participate in this and share the prompt to the word press community. It would greatly encourage me, just to know that you opened the Word to Study, and all the more if you joined in on this with me. So I thank you ahead of time, and like always if there is any way that I could help or encourage you in your studies please let me know I would LOVE to help.
